I’m down at the beach, and I managed to spot a new Cherokee being used by the local PD. In my opinion, it looks pretty good as a cop car, however, a trail hawk would have been a much better choice than a FWD Sport model.

Don’t know how one of those would hold up to police duty. I’d say they’re a little bit too small for serious use, that one is probably a special assignment car or something.

Nope, it's a regular patrol car in a small North Carolina beach town. I too wonder how well it will hold up to use.

I’m not even sure there’s enough room for all the equipment in there. Seems like somebody is on a very very tight budget and couldn’t opt for an Ford Utility Interceptor thingy.

I’m guessing that the transmission will go out at 50k, the electronics will fail at 70k and the engine will blow up at 80k.

Sounds pretty accurate. They have a weird mix of police cars here, including trailblazers, crown vics, Chargers, durangos, and the new caprice. I’m sure they’ll get to use the Chrysler warranty quite a few times.

Too bad the Sport doesn't have that massive screen.

I’m sure they’ll need it more than once.

I’d say that the Crown Vic is the best overall out of all of those. Winter driving is a downside though. I’d say 75% Crown Vic and 25% 4wd something would be a good idea.

I used to go to Atlantic Beach all the time! We stayed across the street from Amos Mosquitos, on New Bern St. I remember nearly being run over by a TrailBlazer police car, while on the beach.

Very cool. I'm down the road a little bit in pine knoll shores in a condo.

Probably so. They most likely would be able to manage with pretty much all crown vics, as winter driving is pretty much non existent on the NC coast. The only time 4wd would be useful would be for the beach.

Isn’t the aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores? I’m currently nowhere near a beach in Ohio.

That’s what I was thinking also, seems like they’d just need a couple SUVs or ATVs or something to hold them over for that instead of purchasing civilian vehicles for patrol.

Yep. I'm like right across the street from the aquarium.

True. I highly doubt a civilian 4 cyl Cherokee would do too good in a police chase.

I’d imagine it would be shit in almost every Police related scenario.
